Bible College

It was July 2014, when the doors for Good Samaritan Bible College opened offering a two year program; and July 15, 2016 was our first graduation. It was a day where by everyone was happy to see the first group of nineteen (19) people completing their Biblical studies.

Looking back from the time when Dr. Gardiner Gentry came to Malawi for the first time; he saw the need of the gospel to be preached to every corner of Malawi. And to that course his vision was clear that he wanted many Baptist churches to be planted in many places of our land. Bible College was one of his vision to see people being trained and equipped in biblical studies so that they may serve the Lord with knowledge of the Bible. Pastor John Wiseman, brother Larry Mills, and Mike Brown from Mansfield Ohio were Dr. Gentry’s first people to visit us in April 2000. At that time a place was bought at Mapanga and people were being trained on this place. Every Thursday people will come for lessons and other days we were going to Monkey-bay, Mulanje for mobile bible college. The most challenging thing with the mobile teaching was that; we were meeting people once a week and with a lot of absentees. Consistency with classes was the issue as well. The need of a fulltime Bible College was great.

Pastor Mark Logan played a major role in helping us to start the Bible College. He first paid for my studies in preparation for the beginning of the College. When I finished my studies with Central Africa Baptist College and Seminary, and Piedmont International University i’s when we began our Bible College. Pastor Logan has been coming to teach at the Bible College every year since the beginning.

The Bible College used to operate on the same campus with the orphanage in Blantyre. However, in 2020 when the covid 19 issue came we had to relocate to Ntcheu, which is about 200 kms away from the orphanage. At first it was a temporary measure so that we could meet the spacing requirements. However, as time moved forward , it became very evident that God wanted this to be the permanent home of the Bible College. Being in Ntcheu and away from the city has some challenges, but we thank God for this place. We currently have 154 students attending the College.
